April 5, 2011 No CommentsXilin Art Center, located in Naperville, will hold its Eighth Annual Lantern Festive at North Central College’s Pfeiffer Hall at 5:00PM on Saturday, February 2, 2013. The event will be a stage performance and will feature beautiful Chinese modern and traditional ethnic dance and music, Kung Fu, and singing. With community and city support, Xilin has been able to bring this cultural event to our audience in the west suburbs. Over the years, the Lantern Festival has become a part of local culture. Please come and join us to enjoy a journey to the East through music and dance! It will be a wonderful event the entire family will enjoy.

“Shambhala” is Director Wanma Jiancuo’s newest production, which depicts the spiritual pursuit of tranquility, balance, and happiness through a combination of traditional Tibetan and modern dance form. This 90 minutes modern dance drama showcases the mysterious ancient Tibetan faith, life and activities in Tibetan Plateau, in contrast with the modern society believing. In the Tibetan culture, Shambhala means Xanadu or Shangri-La, a pure land, blissful heaven and paradise. Its meaning reflects the harmony of the Sun and Moon in each person’s heart. The highest state of being of man comes from finding one’s own Shambhala. “Shambhala” recently was performed at the National Center of Performing Arts in Beijing and received rave reviews from the audience. This is a unique opportunity for Chicagoans to experience this exotic, spiritual and modern dance program.
